Hi,

I appreciate this issue had porbably been raised before. I am extremely new to this.

My lawn has been partly destroyed by moles and mole hills. I have cut it yesterday for the first time this year, and then I removed the molehills, however they have left dirt patches and grassless patches. I was to get the grass back there. How cnn i do this?

Thank you

If you haven't gotten rid of the moles you can put a trap down in the ground to catch them, but the grass will grow back and fill in the space, or you can seed it and cover with a bit of straw to help keep it damp.

Thank you, is it the correct season to sow grass seed?

According to my AI, the best times to sow lawn seeds in Wolverhampton, UK, are early autumn (September to November) and mid-spring (March to April)

They're after the grubs in your yard. If you get rid of the grubs they will leave.

Hello, Loz1995:

Please add the word "bioturbation" to your vocabulary:

We had loads of mole mounds in our front "lawn." Our so-called lawn consists of Bermuda grass and weeds. We just let nature take its course. A year later and no moles, no mounds. We appreciate their efforts in keeping our soil healthy.

We don't kill things on our property. We let natural predators do their job.

Please go pesticide-free, if you haven't already done so.

I appreciate they are apart of nature but they are destroying my lawn. I don't want to kill them just rehome them

To get the grass back, you can try reseeding the bare patches. First, loosen the soil a bit with a rake, sprinkle grass seed on the patches, and lightly press it down with your foot or a board to help it stick. Keep it watered, but not too much, and the grass should start growing back soon! You might also want to check for any mole activity and take steps to keep them away if they’re still causing trouble.

Thank you for your helpful response. Would you recommend a grass seed or brand?
