The Mayor's Monarch Pledge is not just about Monarchs, it's about much more. It's about restoring habitat in our own parks, along roadways, at schools and businesses. It's about educating people about native plants. It's about saving all kinds of insects and animals.

The Mayor's Monarch Pledge has been around for a while now and many Mayors have signed it. If you live in the U.S. or Canada, please ask your Mayor to take the pledge. Maybe your Mayor has already taken it! Here's a list of the Mayors who have already signed. The list is categorized into how many actions cities are taking, so if your Mayor isn't in the first list, scroll down to see if he's/she's in the second or third list. If not, ask him/her to be. This is a very important step into our future.

You can also look at this map. There are many, many gaps across the country. We need to fill those gaps. Take a look at those clusters in Texas and Illinois. We need the entire country to look like that.

If you're emailing or using social media to contact your Mayor, send them this link along with it. This is where they can take the pledge: http://www.nwf.org/Garden-For-Wildlife/About/National-Initiatives/Mayors-Monarch-Pledge.aspx
