I built a mason bee home yesterday with bamboo, similar to the one pictured. Should this be placed in the sun or shade? Our temps reach over 110 degrees in the summer. Thanks!

@hummingbird I have mine in both sun and partly-sunny spots, but we typically only get up to the mid-90s at most around here. The majority of them face east for morning sun which will help warm up the bees. The article above says south-facing, but I've read other sources which say that can be too hot. Who knows..

After drilling holes in logs last year and seeing bees nesting in them, I decided to make some bee houses this year. I ended up making 5 of them. I drilled holes in sticks.

It's pretty interesting stuff. Can't say as I've ever seen a mason be in my yard tho. Probably have and just pegged it as a fly? (shrugs)
