I do like birds and we have plenty of birds of prey around here, I've seen owls with dead squirrels in their talons and the other day I was on one of my runs and inadvertently cornered a hawk with something it its talons. I startled it and he attempted to fly away, but the weight if its prey prevented him from gaining altitude quickly as he flew towards me; I literally could have kicked him as he flew past me.

I also feed vultures carcasses and then bury the bones in my compost.
