I came to know of this unconventional method from my photographer-daughter and tried a few shots some time ago. I had to hold the lens in place with the hand as it cannot be fixed in the reverse direction. I think I had used the basic 18-55 lens. It is a tricky affair to get proper shots. Here are a few I took. Names are on the photos themselves. I was amazed to see the details it brought out. I later learnt that it is a fancy technique for which even separate rings and fixtures are available!

I've never heard of this being done before, that that's really interesting! Is it difficult to keep it lined up?

Yes, it requires some patience and a steady hand. It's fun to do something different once in a while. It is a bit tricky to get the required object lined up and in focus as the button is pressed.
