I have a 6 foot fence, which unfortunately doesn't provide complete privacy from my neighbor. I am looking to plant some trees along the fence, but I would rather not sacrifice more than 8 or so feet of my yard so I am trying to find good evergreens that will get tall enough without getting too wide. I figure the tree will have to be about 8-10 feet tall minimum to get the coverage I would like. One downside is it is the fence to the south so the area along the fence gets spotty sunlight, so I am not sure anything requiring lots of sun would excel.

My choice would probably be Taxus baccata ''Fastiagata'' aka Irish Yew. Alternatively, Cupressus sempervirens or maybe a Juniper - either Skyrocket or Scopulorum.
