Lemon Balm -- cutting back?

It's the end of our season, here in Newfoundland, should I cut back my lemon balm now or wait until next Spring?

When we lived in upstate NY (zone 6) I'd cut back the lemon balm in the spring when the new growth started at the base of the plants. I don't know if this is the best advice for you, since our balm was in a fairly protected spot (house foundation to the back of it, and it faced east).
Lemon balm is such a lovely, aromatic plant!
