Does anyone know what this weed is? it's taken over most of the lawn. It has tendrils, is low level, with small yellow flowers.

Any advice on how to get rid of an propagate the grass instead would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum :)

Think it's more likely to be Medick than Oxalis Chuck :)

Pulling it out by the root should do it.

I don't think so Mr Zigs. Oxalis has a cleft heart shaped leaf. Medick doesn't. It would work pulling oxalis out by the roots but the roots are widespread and will grow back from a tiny piece of root.

I just had another look at the leaves. The OP is lucky, I think I see both kinds of leaves. Perhaps your flower was attached to a non-cleft hearted leaf.

This is oxalis aka yellow wood sorrel, and this one

is medic.

The other leaf could be a vetch added into the mix.

I will indeed drill him in leaf shapes, however, you must stay in after school too and swat up on flower shapes. THEN you may both go out and play :giggle:

@Gilzers, have you considered growing a wildflower meadow - it would be lovely for the butterflies and bees, and not so much hard work mowing

And throw in some Horse Herb for a more long lasting effect

looks a lot like a winter plant that I see every winter in my yard, I actually like it, but it's gone by summer. Black Medic -- I think. It fixes nitrogen, so I don't fight it.

Yep, it's in the pea family so it has nitrogen fixing nodules on the roots (y)
