Japanese Kaki?

Identified elsewhere as a Japanese Kaki can anyone confirm this?

Welcome to the forum @ihsaan ..... although I am not familiar with the Japanese kaki, I would think that the proof might be whether or not it bears the fruit. At this time of year surely it should be fruiting

It really doesn’t look like a Persimmon. The leaves are small and a bit too shiny, almost Camelli-like. Can you get a picture of the trunk near ground level?
