The plant pictured in the OP is suggestive of something in the Daisy Family (Asteraceae), perhaps Solidago, Symphyotrichum, or similar. Do not remove it until it flowers, which may be in Summer or Fall. At that time. post another picture to receive a more precise identification.

Marck is usually pretty good with identifying, and I am not familiar with North American plants, but if I saw it in my garden I would think 'Wood Rush' and attack it before the roots got too established. The feel of the leaves gives it away, hard and tough.

There is a really good app called 'Picture This' which you can use to identify plants. I use it often and find it very useful on my land, out hiking, seed collecting, etc.
I had an app like that on my phone but I don't recall the name of it. It was totally useless. I used it in my yard with our giant roses and it correctly identified the rose. I thought it was going to be great to help me learn other plants and such. Well, every flippin' thing I scanned with the app came back as a rose. Needless to say, I uninstalled it. I'll give that one a shot and see how I fare.
