Hi,

Am new to the forum. We have a plum tree that we think has been infected by bacterial canker. However, we are not sure whether this is the case or whether it is due to environmental/pruning issues. Any advice very welcome.

looks like it. If I was a betting man but it still could be physical damage or environmental stresses of some kind. If it is Canker there is little you can do. All treatments that where effective have been withdrawn from shelves in UK Burning pruning effected wood out and burning is the only treatment I know of... See if anyone else here can throw any light on it before you give up on it mind as I'm not a tree expert really. Fingers crossed its just stress

It sure looks like canker but it is possible it is not. I could be a weather/pruning problem. In all actuality all you can do is wait and see what happens.
