I used hammock screws to put up a hammock between two trees, a birch and a spruce. The spruce, which is smaller compared to the birch, is fine, but there is a long crack developing in the bark of the birch (at least I hope only in the bark). Should I remove the screw? Or is it going to heal on its own? I don’t want to hurt the tree.

I would be very grateful for your insight!

Short answer, yes.
Call a licensed arborist who can advise you. Don't do anything until the tree specialist has a look. And please, don't bore into any tree with any instrument or tool.
