Good evening from Rome, is it possible to transplant my Iris's into pots rather the ground, my cats plunder them a d scatter them all over the place.

It should work, though there are a good few different iris's. I grow 'reticulata' and some miniature ones the missus got given in troughs and pots so they can come onto the patio when they are in bloom and get put out of the way the rest of the year, so I don't see why the larger ones wouldn't be fine. I would go wide and relatively shallow with the pots, rather than deep and narrow. The cats probably think it an excellent bit of soil for a toilet and will go on using it no matter what you grow. You could try a bit of chilli powder scattered through it, I have read it works but never tried it. I use chicken wire on or just below the surface.

Thanks for your reply, but I tried chilli and they laughed at me, I think the chicken wire or even the plastic type is woryh a try.
