Hi all, I had this plant for almost 15 years and suddenly it decided to blossom (?). Does anyone know the name of the plant? I want to know what will happen next.
That looks like an agave plant. Yucca plants boom every year or two. Agave plants boom once and die or at least most varieties do. Maybe yours is a yucca.
Luckily for you it will probably produce lots of sideshoots before it dies completely and you will have lots to give away or spread around the yard. You can see several of them peeking out from underneath the main 'head'.
Are you looking for a plant that is easy to care for and will look great in your home? Then, the Agave attenuata (Fox Tail Agave) is the plant for you!
