Hi I'm getting some dogwood next week and would like to know if there's any other shrubs / trees which are similar in that they have a lovely colour in winter, then go into flower in spring / summer followed by berries. Fragrant flowers would be nice but isn't a necessity just as long as the whole plant is animal safe and might attract some song birds to eat the berries, evergreen or decidious doesn't really matter as long as it offers nice winter colour like the dogwood, for the UK climate,
Thanks

agree, yes, there are some viburnum that would fit the bill. if you research that and get scented one (not all are) then position it for where the wind drifts to you. (suggestion) the other one that is very unique, but has very tiny flowers in the mid spring is the calicarpia. but after the birds eat all the berries off in November its bare.
