Nice one, mine are no where near ripe yet, hoping this warm spell will help.

Mine neither except for some cherry tomatoes coming in. But I am expecting a tomato explosion in another few weeks!

Well those look very plump and juicy...and delicious. I have to say that having fresh produce like this really does make dealing with this crazy heat a little more bearable. It is getting very very hot here, and very humid as well, but combined with my neighbors, our little garden has done quite well. I hope that we all can get some good yields this year.

The pupils of my eyes expanded with the sight of that giant tomato. I never thought that there are still tomatoes that big because all I see in the market are the medium size tomatoes. Even the agriculturist who is a newspaper columnist said that farmers do not plant big tomatoes anymore (but he did not state the reason). Anyway, I remember in the olden days when my mother would be making vegetable salad, there's always the slices of a giant tomato... as big as that in the photo.

Massive! I've never grown tomatoes that big, we usually grow cherry tomatoes and just regular sized Roma tomatoes but those are certainly a sight to be seen!

I wonder if there's anywhere online that shows the biggest tomato ever grown. I am curious to know what the biggest ever is!

I learned something new by accident this year. My trees to the west have grown 50 feet tall and shade the west end of the garden after lunch. I planted east west rows, 8 plants to each row. The whole garden gets morning sun but the west end of the garden starts getting shade about 12 noon. By 2 pm the west half of the garden is in full shade, by 6 pm the whole garden is in full shade. The whole garden grow progressive taller from east to west. The west shady part of the garden has moist soil with very green plants, the east end of the garden has dry soil and dry sun bleached looking plants. This observation leads me to believe tomatoes like shade during the hottest part of the day. Tomato plants are 7 feet tall in the shade and tomatoes are big as grapefruits.

Those are some nice tomatoes indeed. We're finally starting to get some. It's seems like it's been taking longer this year for the tomatoes to ripen, I guess it's because of the weather or just anticipation. We've also had some cherry tomatoes for a few weeks now and I've been picking some larger ones just right before they turn completely red and bringing them inside to finish ripening. I don't want to take the chance of a critter taking a bite out of one of them or them splitting before I have a chance to pick them. While waiting for them to ripen, we did have a batch of fried green tomatoes a few weeks ago.

gary350, it looks like you have a nice garden, but I am curious about one thing. What are those things that look like cans on the top of the posts beside the corn and what are they used for?

Those are cans, empty food cans from the kitchen. My row marker posts are rusty and blend in with so soil so well they are almost invisible. I worry that me or someone else might not see the post bend over and get an eye poked out. Cans on top the post have it easier to see the post if bend over and hit it you get a can if the face not a eye poked out. I should have pulled up all the posts long ago I just forgot about them.
