I have recently moved into a new house and it has a bing cherry tree on the front lawn. It has a canker (I think) and it’s leaves are full of holes. It also has a ton of aphids and ants so I sprayed it down and put the sticky stuff to trap ant on paper on the bottom. Aphids may be a problem for next year. What do I do, and what should my regular maintenance be? Any other problem that you see in the pics feel free to comment on! Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

At this point in time all I would do is get rid of any insect pests by spraying the entire tree with a spinosad based insecticide. I would remove all grass and weeds from around the base of the tree for a radius of about 3 feet. I would then fill this area with a good mulch but keeping the mulch from actually touching the trunk. At leaf fall would rake up and burn all of the fallen leaves. I would then spray all limbs and the trunk with either Neem Oil or Horticultural Oil. Just before bud break in the spring I would spray the entire tree again with the oil. Then, next year keep a close eye out for insects and if they return spray with the spinosad. There isn't much you can do about the weeping wound shown in the picture. I would fertilize the tree in the spring and fall with a good organic fertilizer. Forget any Scotts or Miracle Grow products, use only an OMRI rated product.
