I have hydrangeas inside that haven't been planted in the ground yet. I want to wait until the spring for that. The leaves are slowly dying. I noticed a coupleof the stems are turning brown. I water it once per week. Is this normal in the fall? (Even though the plants are inside)

Although the lower leaves dry up and fall off, last night while watering them I noticed little green buds growing on the stems.

Not sure what type of hydrangea you have. My guess is, it not an indoor variety, and should be set outside for the winter. If you are not sure where you would like to plant it as yet, then just bury the potted plants in an area that gets good light, but not full sun. Come spring, dig the pots out, and plant in an area that suits your variety.

Hi, it's a nantucket blue hydrangea. I bought it in July and have not planted it outside. Would it hurt to set them outside in the pot above ground? For the entire winter?

They will be planted close to my house just below my living room window. They will get morning sun and afternoon shade. There is a well established Japanese maple right next to them. That should work out pretty good.
