First real "snow," we've had for a decade. But it's already melting.

A lot of snow on the top of the bamboo at the bottom of the garden.

You can the koi in the corner of the pool under the warmer water returning from the filter in the garage.

I shook the snow off the mimosa blooms, just in case it was still on tonight and it froze

It didn't last long on the bit of the path where it is over the supply and return pipes of the pool for the filter in its room in the garage. The filter pump, UV and air pump generate a little heat which makes the difference in an otherwise unheated system. The koi overwinter in the corner of the pool 5ft down under the filter return.

No frogs in here yet, the little blighters will be tucked up in the folds of the corners of the liner of the koi pool where it will be warmer. There won't be many, probably about half a dozen at the most, they don't do any harm. The subsoil is always a bit warmer than the outside temperature.

Hi,

Wonderful pictures Sean thanks for sharing. :)

I'm the other side of the Pennines from you and generally we have snow each year; it's common for us to see daffodils in full bloom just above the snow on the higher ground; we catch it here on the valley side.

Kind regards, Colin.

How beautiful! We had a similar amount of snow, but a lot has melted away since yesterday morning. It's still on our roof, so looks like the insulation is doing its job!

Still snow on the ground but none on the plants, as I've watered them.

Rhodos and our one *camellia are susceptible to frost burn at this time of the year under these conditions. The snow was turning to ice. Tap water is at around 50f, so it cleared it of the rhodos and azaleas after a bit.
It may well freeze again tonight. Wouldn't like any of these to get frost burn, lots of nice big buds on all of them.

*Cue for a song.
