How to keep Chipmunks out of my garden.

They are digging hole after hole.I planted Canna Bulbs and they dug them up.
Don't want to kill them just keep them out.

1/4 hardware cloth might help. Metal mesh between 1 and 3 feet wide.

Hire a skunk? Believe it or not since insects use smell you are not far off. Try capsicum or hotter peppers that is not blended with vinegar and salt. Maybe mix it with corn oil as a carrier oil. Some soap too like a homemade oil spray.

How should i mix this?

it might not take much. garlic and onion oil work also. peppers do not always smell strong. maybe blend onion and that chili pepper?

edit: use garlic oil. it has proven antifungal properties almost as good as thyme oil.
