Broccoli microgreens are one of the easiest and most rewarding greens to grow, and the best part? You don’t even need soil! 🌱

I recently started growing them on grow mats, and it’s been a game-changer—no mess, no fuss, and super quick. Grow mats hold moisture well, giving the seeds the perfect environment to germinate and thrive. Within just a week, you get vibrant, nutrient-dense greens packed with flavor and all the health benefits broccoli is known for.

If you’re curious about the step-by-step process and want to try it yourself, we’ve put together a video showing exactly how to grow broccoli microgreens on a grow mat.

I know that is easy to grow but seeds to grow 1 salad cost more than its worth. Last summer I poured a 1000s seeds in the grass near a shade tree and got 99% germination this is better than a pot or growing inside the house. Cut plants off I get 1 salad and nothing grows back. Sept 1st I poured seeds in a 30 ft garden row now have lots of broccoli heads. 13 degree F temperature did not kill broccoli plants 3 weeks ago & we still have broccoli.

The trick friend is to grow your seed for the sprouts. Most veg seeds will yield eatable sprouts and one could use this method with other small seeds, alfalfa, and legumes.

About 35 years ago I was saving seeds from melons mix 1000 FREE seeds into a 15" circle and microgreen grew. The name microgreens had not been invented yet. Cut tiny plants with scissors they don't grow back and are very good to eat. Okra pods have many free seed. Tomatoes and peppers have 100s of free seeds. Cucumber & squash 1000s of free seeds. Small plants make excellent microgreens no matter what plant they come from. If you buy seeds to eat microgreens its a waste of money 3$ for 50 seeds. You could make a 30 ft microgreen row in your garden.
