My in-laws have about 1000 acres in central Oklahoma, and I'm not sure what to do about the honey locusts that are springing up EVERYWHERE. I know deer like to eat the pods and spread the plants that way, and I've found out the hard way that cutting these off at the ground only compounds the problem. I'd estimate that there is now a 80 acre path overgrown with these, and there are pockets and individual trees all over the property. I found the name of a couple herbicides (Remedy, Triclopyr) that supposedly work well with these, but I'm concerned about these herbicides working to the ponds and a stream that flows through the south boundary of the properly. Can someone provide me with a strategy for getting a handle on these? Thank you.
