horn shavings vs horse manure

Hey all
so I've planted Hokkaido pumpkin plants and used horn shavings/chips but i know people who use horse manure the problem is my wife won't let me use "fresh" manure, are the pellets any good. which is better does it matter can i mix and match.
most of this question is thinking for next year already. I've got lots of male flowers opening but still waitingg for the females too open how long after the first males do the females open thanks in advance

Whatever the horse ate will be growing in your garden next year! VERY weedy as their digestive system does not kill weed seeds. Also be cautious of hay from fields sprayed with herbicides, it also travels through horse digestive systems and will kill your plants, too.
