I just received a new, young piri piri plant. I'm growing it indoors. My window faces west so from around 12-1 till sunset there's direct sunlight on my plants. After a few weeks my new piri piri looking weak. Would anyone know from the picture what is going on? I lowered the watering amounts, thinking that perhaps I was overwatering (I kept low levels to begin with), but still its getting weaker and dying.

Now I'm thinking there's a weakness in the soil, as I am reusing soil from old, plant-failed pots. I did add fertilizer to "replenish" the soil, but I'm no expert on how this work.

Any advise would be appreciated.

I would choose a smaller pot and transplant it to a new land.
Then it is easier to implement a balanced watering and care of the plant.
