It looks like a fungal problem. Your best option is to take a sample 6” square, to a garden center and ask them what it is and what to do. Diagnosing fungal diseases is very difficult and easier to do in person.
Take a hand cultivator and dig the dead spots out of the area. Feel the soil moisture and make sure it is not staying too wet. When I remove dead spots I always add composted manure or compost back to the dead area. Let the soil dry well between waterings.
Humid environments and excessive watering can significantly accelerate the spread of the fungus. Keep us posted if it gets worse.
