Hi, my Aloe is suffering after adding some Universal Terrain on top of the proper one. As shown in the pictures the plant collapsed, but until 3 days ago it was perfectly healthy. How can I save it?
Sorry for bad english, I’m Italian.

There are a number of things that could be wrong. Did you water it heavily when you added the new soil? Did you crack / damage the leaves or main stalk? Is the new soil at the same depth as the old soil? Did you change the location? An aloe is a strong plant so I wouldn't give up on it yet.

And welcome to the forum.

Hi, @Cecilia Gordigiani !

I would cut off the top of the plant. The stalk must be dried on air for 1-2 days before planting. The soil for rooting is wet sand or the usual mixture of earth for succulents. Water the cuttings carefully so that the cuttings do not rot. It is not necessary to cover with cans or polyethylene. The best temperature for rooting is +25 degrees Celsius.

As @Silentrunning said. If you added the soil and it raised the level of growing medium higher on the trunk of the plant then this is a severe disturbance to the plants habitat. Maybe not fatal now but in the weeks to come the new areas covered by the soil will rot and kill the plant, especially if kept damp. I think that only 2 plants like to have their soil level raised. Tomatoes and tomatillas. In any case I would remove the soil you added.

Thank you all for the answers! I removed the plant from the pot and the roots are rotten, even the base of the stem. :'( Can I cut the top and replant it?

Cecilia, if it were me I would take the entire plant and wash every spec of dirt off f it. I would then let it dry in a shaded area for a few days. Then examine it. If it looks viable I would replant the entire thing but only cover about 1/3 of the roots with fresh cactus soil. If it looks like it needs moisture, mist it lightly - don't get the roots soaking wet. After a week or two, if it still looks alive I would finish replanting it but plant it slightly higher than it was originally even if a few roots stick up in the air. Do not cut the plant.

Remember, this advice is free and worth every penny. ;)
