Help identify problem with my houseplant

hi all

New to keeping plants and this forum! I think this is a Chinese evergreen? Can any help identify the reason for the brown spots? I hope it's not a fungal thing but if it is, should I remove the affected leaves?

Please let me know if I have not attached the photo correctly!

Looks like insect damage to me. It appears as if something chewed off the outer layer of the leaf in those small spots. It's not fungal I don't think

I agree with chuck, have you seen any sort of insects on or around the plant? How long have you had it?
