Hi all.

I planted some heliconia psittacorum about 3 months ago and they are looking pretty bad!

Its been cold, rainy and windy over here in Perth.

I made some shelter things out of clear film as you can see to try and protect them but hasnt helped.

Any ideas on what the problem may be? There looking even worse now.

Think they'll survive?

Hello @philmb. A lovely choice of plant, but it's a bit fussy about one or two things. I found this video andhttps://youtu.be/E5vBAnQNX-M

I reckon your plants wont like the weather at the moment - cold, rainy and windy :yuck: These like to be in a very light bright place, like lots of feed - constant warm temperature, and really light well draining compost mix - watered at the bottom once or twice a day. Heavy compost could cause root rot, and watering the leaves could cause them to discolour.
I wish you luck with them, not sure I'd have enough patience :)
