Hedge dying

Hi all - I have two sections of my bush which appears to be diseased/dying. Any ideas how to revive it? Sorry I can't post photos if seems. Thank you

If you were to get in there, clear out alllll the weeds, water them really deeply and trim out the dead stuff, they will look much better. Weed competition takes nutrients away from the plants. Then I would give them a weak fertilizer to get them through winter and spread 2'' of mulch over the ground to keep moisture in .

Our privet hedge got scorched during a hot and dry summer about two or three years ago. The following summer was much the same and the hedge began to get patchy like yours. I cut out all the dead bits and ended up with a big hole. So planted about four new privet plants planning to fill up the hole when they have grown. Last winter was wetter and it revived a bit. Sprinkled some bone meal and watered with a seaweed feed.
