Yes, we are now working on getting away from the dark side..

Does this mean that it will start staying light a little later now? I seem to remember December 15th being the darkest day of the year.

December 21st is the shortest day of this year. Each day from now on will get a few minutes longer.
I have recorded on a calendar the sunrise and sunset/length of days wherever there is a 1/2 hour change. The day does not lengthen equally at both ends due to our elliptical orbit.

I do not record moon phases as I howl whenever the mood strikes...

Yes, sunrise continues to be earlier for a week or so, but sunset gets later, currently 4.11pm here.

Spring will be here before we know it. We will be out in the yard cleaning and planting very soon now. So far the winter has not been as bad as last year, but it is really just getting started here.
