Half of Avocado tree is dying

Tree was in bloom and over the last 2 weeks half has turned brown and died, whole dead blossoms just fall off at the knuckle. Water hasn’t changed at all.

Sounds like a grafting issue. Can you take pics of the base of the tree/trees?

One thing that is wrong is that the tree is planted too deep. You cannot see the root flare. This could be the cause but I don't think so. Has this tree ever produced and if so were there 2 different types of avacados?. On the second picture it looks as if it were limb grafted, like a fruit cocktail tree and that the grafted part died.
