My cacti are starting to grow, and now I'm looking into fertilizers. However, I intend to eat the fruit they'll eventually produce, so I don't want to use miracle grow or some other chemical brand just because it says fertilizer on it. I was told 10-10-10 would be good fertilizer, but I read that 10-10-10 means it has synthetic and isn't natural because nothing in nature is perfect stats across the board.

So can someone please offer some options on good possibly organic fertilizing products and/or recommended fertilizer numbers? I would greatly appreciate it.

With my Dragon I feed him compost tea or he gets the old water from my fish tank every 3 weeks, he doesn't get any other kind of fertilizer and seems happy with the way I feed him.

I just watered mine with fish water today, so I'm halfway there. :p
May I ask how large yours is, and how long have you been growing it?

Mine was all most 9ft tall until the wind snapped over half off so now its only 4ft or so I've had it for around 6 years and only seen blooms on it once, it may be due to the lack of lots of sun.

How much water comes from your fish tank? I assume that if I have one beta in a gallon of water, that won't cut it.

I get about 3 gal every time I change the water, I have 2 large gold fish and a cat fish in a 30 gal tank soon to be in a 50 gal tank come this summer. Even a small amount of fish water will be good for your plants.

Yay! I figured you were going to say you need like 16 fish and a 50 gallon tank, minimum. I'm not sure where I got that impression from but I assumed it would be something not easily doable. I think my husband will be excited. He definitely wants a dragon fruit plant.

Nice! I like rescuing betas from those depressing tiny bowls so maybe I can lobby for a small school of the for the sake of the future dragon fruits. :D(y)

If you put 2 male betas in the same tank they will fight, check on line about Betas and see what they say about putting more them in a group setting I might be wrong but I think they will fight.

They will totally fight and murder each other. I should have given a bit more information in my earlier response. I meant I'd get multiple separate tanks or put partitions in one. Thanks for the heads up though. If you didn't warn me and I didn't know, that would have been depressing to show my one year old.
