At the end of last summer we planted a vine which had been in a large pot for many years.
We're training it over a pergola.
It's come into bloom now but has just developed brown spots on some leaves at the furthest end of the vine and it's looking quite yellow too.
Any idea what it could be and how best we can treat it please?

Yellow leaves can mean a lot of different things, lack of nitrogen or iron or it could be a pH issue. Can you post a photo of the whole plant in the soil.

Hi oneeye, here's a picture. It's still got a pot around the edge, but it has no base so roots go down into the soil below the patio.
I've discovered lots of little spider type things over the vine too - could they be causing the brown spots?

No those spiders won't hurt anything their not the dreaded spider mite. It's time to give your plant a little fertilizer because it looks like it could use some. There are two types you can use when it comes to synthetic fertilizer. Liquid and time release and if you use either of them only use 1/4 the manufacturer recommendation. If you use organic fertilizer there are many to choose from that are slower and more safe when it comes to fertilizer burn. What ever you prefer?
