Monday I had to have my beloved Chocolate Lab put down at the age of 14. He was a great companion and protector. He loved children and hunting. He leaves a giant hole in our hearts and is especially missed by our other dog, Spike. As sad as this is The good memories I have of him I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that @Silentrunning :( 14 is a good age for a Lab, and it sounds like he had a very happy life. No doubt that doesn't make his passing any easier though. Hope you're doing ok.

What a treasure to have him be with you till 14 years old. So wonderful. and I know he had the best life. He will be in heaven waiting for you. I know the pain well, unfortunately loosing two GSDs in my life. Its so hard. Such a pain. Hugs to you.

Oh @Silentrunning !! I'm so sorry to hear your sad news:( Pets are so much part of our families. My Dad recently had his Lab put down too, the whole family still miss her . She would have been 16 in December. Hugs to you and the family.

Chocolate Labs have been in the news.
It is hard to end the suffering one sees going on in the last few days. Dogs more then other pets become an fundamental part of our daily and no matter what are happy to see us. A little video by Baxter Black.

Thanks all for your thoughts. As much as I miss Oakley I think Spike misses him more. He keeps looking for him and has taken to laying in Oakley’s bed.
