I looked it up. It's slime mold. Pretty harmless. Just a really cool thing to wake up to this morning. Some pics with and without flash.

Were you a kid in 1958? Terry Noland from Abeline, TX wrote and recorded this song in 1958. I don't know if he was the origin of that phrase. Could have been a taunt used by children before that:

When I first saw it this morning, I thought somebody let some of that spray foam go.
I started seeing that in my yard last year, and the first thing I thought was that someone had sprayed some kind of hardening foam too :ROFLMAO:
Figured out it was some kind of fungus, and thanks to this forum, I know now its called slime mold. Thanks!

I was not too much later and it's something she would have latched on to. She was a fairly young women (and mom) in 1958.
