I tried stuffing tomatoes instead of a salad. I cored them out like a bell pepper, mixed chopped iceberg lettuce and bacon with mayo and stuffed them, then wrapped them in plastic to chill in the fridge until dinner. That is going to happen again sometime.

Delicata squash, I mostly roast it, cool it, slice them for salad , a nice addition to other veggies.

other squashes I will roast and serve hot with butter etc. Love making my butternut squash soup.

And I use butternut squash for pumpkin pie, no one has a clue.

Designing in my head a new (for me) mac and cheese casserole. First caramelize lots of onions, cool those down in fridge, then add one egg, and some whole milk and blend with an immerser. Shred up two kinds of cheese, a good cheddar sharp and a mild one, make the pasta, but half way. Mix all together, add more milk as the pasta will suck up the liquid, salt and pepper of course. Bake for one hour. should not need any additional flour as the onions can be the thickener.

Havarti or Gruyere would smooth in nicely. The havarti has more buttery flavor. Bet 2 eggs work in a 9x13. Lower temp though. Or cover it for most of the time.

Mac and cheese can be adjusted easily . I like a hint of blue cheese in mine, and grated onion, a hardy cheddar, and a creamy cheese, and of course a good white sauce made with lots of butter. some nutmeg gives it something special. Always an adjustment to make sure enough liquid to the pasta to come out creamy.

Just read about one with chopped tomatoes in it, made me think that adding a tablespoon of tomato paste in might be interesting twist. Not sure I want the chopped tomatoes in it, just my preference. Some folks put in an egg .

If I make it homemade I usually use Velveeta for creamy, mozzarella for pull, and something strong for taste like a blue cheese. Some roasted tomatoes diced, a roux sauce, then put it in a casserole dish and top it with breadcrumbs and some grated Parmesan. But to be honest, I prefer boxed Kraft dinner with some ketchup in it lol. The other is more to please family/company.

I thought i was the only one who dressed up frozen pizza. I haven't had one since I got my dentures though back in March. I was telling the wife im about ready for one.

It's a great way to make a cheap frozen pizza into a quick decent meal! :)

I saved the seeds for next year.

I just added one to my grocery order along with butternut, acorn and buttercup. I don't often have squash so I don't really know the difference as far as taste.. it will be interesting to try them and see what ones I like the best. I'll keep the seeds too.

The delicata has become our favorite.
My dad always cooked a lot of squash but I never had this one.

My wife hadn't had much squash until she met me but she found this one.

I want to try making fries with it in the air fryer, kind of like sweet potato fries. I don't know if it will turn out but time will tell lol. I'm also making a stew in the next few days so I'll try some in that if the fries don't work out.

4.eggs
4 egg yolks

Nice. Ages ago, beginning of my marriage, had husband into making a weekly meal. But he is such a messy cook its nuts . Maybe he did that on purpose. 99% of the time its me cooking. once in a while he will make pancakes for breakfast.

I do most of the cooking now because my wife works so much more than I do. And im a better cook lol.
But I clean as I go so I dont have to after im full and relaxed.
I can have most everything cleaned and put away before I serve. My wife doesnt know how I do it. She leaves it all till after.
I learned to cook bacon without any splatter to avoid the mess. Its also the best bacon.
The pictures are older but we had bacon egg tomatoes sandwiches today with avacado 20240602_094444.jpg20240602_102445.jpg20231222_120210.jpg20231222_115957.jpgon the side. All store bought though.

No I am pretty sure it is built in, me at least! Mess happens! But I do try to clean as I go so I can not work hard after dinner.
