Red cabbage turns eggs blue. Spinach is good for green. Turmeric for yellow. Paprika for orange. A healthy meal AND decorations.
I am only coloring the egg shells. If I were to color the shelled egg, I definitely would look to natural dyes. I don't even eat colored cake icing, yuck. Unless I color it myself. Recall something about onion peels also give up a color on shells. One time I steamed some artichokes and kept the water, boiled some eggs in that water, it came up a neat green.

The other day was at the local library playing scrabble. first time with the club. Nice folks. then they started talking about eating Girl Scout cookies and Krispy Cream donuts. Kept my mouth shut. OMG the junk that is in both of them.

We did something similar last weekend. Wife had egg whites left from making key lime pie.

Mixed whites, spinach, mushrooms, onion and cheese. Baked it out.
Yummy, Key Lime Pie. Love going to Key West and trying several types.

When I hard boil eggs I put a few drops of color into the water, just looks pretty in the fridge and no need to write the letter H on them. View attachment 111494

I just realized you put them in the fridge with shells on. Anytime I make hard boiled eggs I put a little vinegar in the pot to soften the shells, and peel them right away while still hot. I've never tried peeling them cold from the fridge.. does it stick to the shell? It's a pain when making pickled or deviled eggs trying to get the shells off and keeping the egg perfect, especially with eggs that are close to the best before date. If they peel better cold I'll start doing that.

Always have left the shells on, sort of a protection if I want to travel with them. I just roll them in my hand, peels right off.

I take my finished boiled eggs from the boiling water and put them in water with ice and let them set until they are ice cold. It makes it so much easier to peel them.

Never gone as far as the ice in the water, but yes, straight from the boiling water into a bowl of water straight from the cold tap, sort of the opposite to peeling tomatoes, boy did I have trouble the first time I read a recipe that said 'Peel the tomatoes' and didn't explain about dropping them in boiling water first. :)
