fatsia japonica leaves

Just got this beautiful fatsia japonica and noticed something that seemed odd on the underside of the leaves and stems. Is this normal? If not, what should I do?

Have you tried wiping a section of the underside to see if the spots come off? If they don't, I'd think it was part of the leaf since I've never had one of these. Looks like it could just be a little hairy... or I could be completely wrong
