I'm having some problems with what I think is a fledgling Euonymus japonicus hedge in Wales. The leaves develop a whitish splodge, then eventually turn brown and die. The white discolouration can not be rubbed off and there is no evidence of pests. Any suggestions for how to save this shrub?

Thanks!

Hi Sue, Euonymus Are Really Robust Shrubs & rarely Drop dead from Pests or diseases In my experience. I'd Advise Carefully removing all infected leaves by hand & burning them rather then composting. Pick up any dropped leaves off the ground too. If you can find the time to do that and keep doing it over the season I'm sure the shrub will survive. The growing points all look Fine to me. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged as you can Drown Euonymus if they are left swimming in waterlogged soil
