We have added a bit of sunlight it was grown from an offshoot and has always been in the ground

If it is an established plant I would just leave it and see what the next branch does. Meanwhile I would give it a close exam for any type of bugs. I'm not that familiar with pests that would attack that plant so hopefully someone else will jump in with more expertise.

The only thing we've had problems with is snails but got them under control now with a pet freindly snail bait.
