Hi all
I have attempted to garden many times and I’m terrible at it!

I have a Victorian walled garden and I planted some little sailx (flamingo I think) trees, but they get lost against the wall.

My neighbours have dwarf evergreen light green trees. They’re the shape of perfect Christmas trees!

I’ve googled; but can’t find the name and also, can I plant them any time of year please?

Many thanks; katie

Welcome @Kittykat

I once had a front hedge of dwarf junipers. Perhaps that is what you are thinking? They make excellent hedges.

Best planted in late winter, early spring and in my climate, you must avoid summer plantings or high risk of losing the plant.

Probably dwarf Alberta spruce.

I love them. Easy to grow and make great topiary.

I have a hedge of mop head junipers that I think would go good with them too but I put dwarf mugo pines with mine.

Welcome Kittykat. :)

You're probably not terrible at gardening but choice of plants, where to plant, climate and soil can make a big difference to what survives. The Salix you've mentioned are pretty when first planted but it's often difficult to keep them alive and in good condition.

I have a stone walled garden and making the right choice of plants isn't easy as much of it shuts out the sun. Try a couple of Hardy Fuchsias, most have a long flowering period.

I planted this young Fuchsia 'Hawkshead' last year and it flowered through summer up until the first frost.

I like that "Fuchsia 'Hawkshead" @Sheal and will try some here. Reminds me some of the Angel's Trumpet I grow.
