The bluish blooms on this plant resembled a rose of sharon, but the leaves are not like my other altheas. Can anyone help me identify this plant? It is about 2' tall, so seems to be a dwarf variety (my other rose of sharon is very tall and leggy). Hope you can see from these photos. The leaves are very dark and dense, Thanks.

The leaves do look like my Rose of Sharons in shape.

My guess is possibly Pollypetite Dwarf Althea. It has that rounded growth appearance that yours shows and deep green foliage also. If so, it should produce lavender flowers.

I'm posting a clearer view of the leaf of this plant. It current lives underneath a holly tree, and I was surprised to see it there, as I normally would not plant an althea under another plant. I want to move it to a new location where it will get more light, hoping that it will bloom more. Bur I need to know how big it will get. Phone plant id (the free one) says hibiscus, which is very broad. But that includes althea. I don't remember ordering a Pollypetite Dwarf Althea, but I suppose it is possible. Could it be a volunteer? I did have mallow in that location once, but it did not survive being so close to a sprinkler head and got too wet. Anyway, thanks for any ideas.

Here's a leaf from the Pollypetite Dwarf Althea for comp... close but not a perfect match.

Thanks for posting. Looks like the leaves on my plant have much deeper lobes. They are also much darker green. Online leaf identifiers don't get a perfect match either, although some kind of hibiscus seems to be the consensus. The plant is much shorter and more compact than my other altheas (Rose of Sharon) so it may be the Pollypetite. If so it may be at its full height, which would work for its proposed new location. Thanks for the help!
