Last summer I planted a drift Rose bush. It fluffed up and blossomed and looked nice. I didn't cut it back or cover it before winter. At the beginning of April I cut it back some. It's growing bigger than last summer and looks really healthy. But there are no buds on it. Why is that? I've never tried roses before, so I could easily be messing something up

You may have pruned it too late. Roses are best pruned late winter, in February or early March. There's every possibility it will start to show buds in June. That can be encouraged using a tomato feed as it promotes flowering.

The reason I asked which fertilizer was my wife put too much nitrogen on hers and made it stop blooming.
