Dracaena Cinnabari

A friend gave me a Dragon Blood tree several years ago. It has put out a flower stalk and the flowers and seeds have come and gone. I am unsure what to do with the flower stalk?

Either cut it off as close to the base as possible or pull it out. It might take considerable force to remove it.
