I am currently living in a cold area here in the tropics. Its currently a bit hot and I have noticed that plum trees in this area have been deciduous for quite a long period of time and they are just starting to fluorish and bloom again towards the end of the year. Otherwise, I thought the trees were literally dead only to be told that they had just shed their leaves. What deciduous trees do you grow in your zone?

Quite as few. The most obvious one is the Pouton which dominates my garden so in winter it is a great big magnificent skeleton...."the bare bones of the garden" as my friend says. I also have several Smoke Bush trees, a Something-or-rather Pansy and a lovely Winter Sweet which will smell lovely when it finally flowers apparently...waiting, waiting.
