Dill science?

Hello. Can anyone here help me better understand the science around dill and companion planting?
I understand, from various articles, that growing dill near carrots and eggplant can produce bad results, but I don't fully understand why.
I'd like to grow some dill in a container in my garden, away from the eggplant and carrots, and not in the ground with them. But how far away is enough?
Is it a pollination problem, in which case the container wouldn't help much?
Is it a root/chemical problem, in which case the containers would help?
Any help appreciated. Thank you.

I also have trouble growing dill. Often not many of the seeds I plant grow. But I do get a fair amount of random dill from last years plants.

Some of the random dill is growing by my eggplants, about a 6 inch separation.

Not sure about carrots, I thought they were from the same family.

It does do better near cabbage and turnip.

I do believe it's soil related as to where it grows, look up allelopathy.
