Dieffenbachia yellowing lower leaves

I water my dieffenbachia when the soil is almost completely dry, and after watering the leaves start to yellow and eventually fall off. I tried to wait a bit more for the soil to dry but it was yellowing even more, does anyone know what the problem is?

You're probably letting it get too dry. Dieffenbachias like to be moist most of the time and are not drought-tolerant. Just don't keep them soggy wet and they'll be fine.
