Hi everyone

This is my first post so i hope it's in the right section.

I have a citrus tree i've had for a couple of years, it looks like it's dying.
I live in London, i keep it outside in winter under my gazebo and when its very cold i use a fleece.
The last 2 years it didn't bear fruit and dropped a lot of leaves in winter but recovered in the spring and grew.
This year in January i was pleased to see loads of new fruit, then the leaves wilted.
I think i may of over watered but definetly not more than previous 2 years.
I was worried about root rot so i repotted it into fresh soil.
I use winter citrus feed in winter and spring/summer i use all purpose feed.
Strangely this year it's dropped no leaves but it just looks unhealthy and the fruits are drying up.
I left it 1 week after repotting in before watering a bit.
The top soil looks dry now but i used a moisture meter and is moist.
I just took this photo today.
I joined the forum for any advice so anyone would be a great help.
Happy gardening everybody

Greetings, welcome to the Forums.

From the picture, it seems like the plant is still in fair health overall. Continue to emphasize good drainage and moderate irrigation. With the coming of Spring, growth and renewal will hopefully ramp up. It's hard to say now what stresses the plant was under, but a combination of cold and damp seems most likely.

Cute looking tree!

Is that pot made of ceramic? Make sure it has good drainage holes. Like Marck mentioned, good drainage is pertinent.

I potted a shrub in a beautiful ceramic pot once, not realising the small drainage hole on the bottom wasn’t adequate, and it slowly died on me. I much prefer terra cotta or plastic pots to suit my way of gardening.

Best of luck!

Hi there
Thanks for the reply's I feel more assured now it will be ok when spring arrives.
The pot is made of ceramic it has 3 small drainage holes.
I think i'll just be careful in winter to just water sparingly, the amount of plants i've killed off over watering you'd think i'd learn!
