Chinese orchid advice please!
Hello everyone!
I've just joined your forum in hope that your superior knowledge can help the incredibly resilient Chinese orchid which has survived 3 years of our grey thumbs! This mighty individual initially gave us a set of gorgeous blooms from a pair of vertical stems. Last year, it sprouted another, longer stem out to the side, which hung low with about 14 blooms weighing it down; we supported it with a pair of chopsticks taped together! This year, it grew a further limb from that stem with no less than 18 blooms on it. The flowers are just coming to their end now, at least 12 weeks since they started opening. As you can see in the picture, we've supported the limb with a chopstick again, and also submerged some on the tendrillous roots in a pot of water which it has responded very well to. It's growing more leaves and roots while the stems are starting to die off.
Apologies for the long scene-setter!
Can anyone tell me what we should do with this mighty entity to help it to flourish next year as well, but to ideally flower more vertically!
Many thanks for reading (If you got this far...!)
