Hi there everyone,

I’m keen to hear if anyone has experience in managing this problem with the leaves turning from their usual glossy green to white. The plants appear generally happy otherwise with lots of runners sprouting and new growth.

I’ve attached a picture to show what I mean.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Chris,
It’s likely sun exposure.
Providing some shade during peak sun or ensuring good airflow and avoiding overhead watering can help.

Thanks for responding. Sun / shading hasn’t changed much over last few years but there’s some water spray that might contribute to it. Cheers

What is the irrigation like?
Frequency?
Duration?
Potable water or reclaimed/recycled?
Fertilizer application frequency and analysis?

I agree with Chuck that something is going on in the soil that is damaging the roots‘ ability to absorb nutrients. Have you had the soil tested for nutrient levels and pH?

You are probably overwating trying to fix it but that will only cause it to get worse because of the alkalinity in the water. Iron chlorosis starts up on the top of new growth first. Using alkaline water with a high pH for a long time may be the culprit. If the pH goes above 7 the iron will be less available.
